I am the proud owner of Ashanti Dance Company. From the age of four I began dancing. My background was Irish Dancing and I travelled for many years to competitions throughout Britain and Ireland. I won many world titles for team dancing and won many solo local championships. When my competition days ended I auditioned for and was offered a place in a professional dance company in 2001 called Rhythm of the Dance, where I toured throughout and Europe and Taiwan.
I pursued salsa dancing whilst still doing Irish dancing. This began with one class per week which quickly turned into an addiction and found I was dancing nearly every night of the week at classes and clubs- sometimes going to salsa class then Irish dancing afterwards! I began competing and won the Scottish Amateur Championships in 2004, and won a place at the Tropicana World Championships in London. I have performed at many corporate events in Glasgow and have danced at schools in Sydney. Ten years on, I have completed teaching courses in London, am BATD qualified in Salsa, Mambo and Merengue and gained a HND Dance Artists.
My educational background is also academic. I graduated from university with a Degree in Finance and a Masters with Distinction in E-Commerce. After graduation I obtained employment with a multi-national investment bank however it was not for me as my passion has always been for dance!
